Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American performer and actress of Irish heritage was a well-known persona. The passionate, fiery role she played in numerous American film productions was the reason that attracted attention to the green-eyed beauty. Her gorgeous appearance and natural beauty were well-received. The actress was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her roles on screen reflect her brave, strong character that fought to survive and gain recognition in a male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect to get the roles she deserved through merit. She stood up for the injustices and unfair treatment of female actors throughout her film career and gained lots of supporters. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an honest account of her entire life and the challenges she faced when she made her way up the ladder to success. She was an adventurous woman who didn't hesitate to attempt herself at her own tricks. She appeared in over 60 films over the years and was the recipient of a fair amount of international recognition. After leaving Parra She remarried in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and a pioneer of transatlantic aviation, just to mention several accomplishments. O'Hara finally retired after a few years of marriage. Blair however, was killed in a tragic crash on a plane in the year 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer the same year. She underwent an immediate surgery. She recovered eventually. She suffered from six heart attacks, short-term memory loss as well as diabetes type 2 over the next years. O'Hara was 95 years old, passed peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on the 24th of October 2015.
