Austin, she also attended an acting class and started to pursue acting as a
career. She wanted to pursue acting upon graduation. But, Hollywood can be
difficult to enter, and so Renee decided to remain in Texas and try out for
roles around Houston. At the time, she got roles in films like Reality Bites
(1994), and Empire Records (1995). While on the set for the sequel, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) she met Matthew McConaughey,
another Hollywood newcomer. Renee watched him work on a project which was of
interest to her. She auditioned for and was awarded the role in Love and A.45
(1994). The role received enough praise from critics that she decided to
relocate to Los Angeles. Her big break came with another film role in The Whole
Wide World (1996). Cameron Crowe was busy casting Jerry Maguire (1996) in which
she starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actors like Bridget Fonda (Camden
Diaz), Winona Ryder (Winona Ryder) and Marisa Tomei. Then he discovered
Zellweger's performance on The Whole Wide World (1996). The audition was for
Zellweger and was confident that he'd discovered his Dorothy Boyd. After
following her success in a few independent films, Renee felt confident enough
for her return to the large-budget Hollywood film industry. She was a co-star
with Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing (1998). She also starred in
Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in a role opposite Jim Carrey and shortly
