Paula Patton

Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African American, while her mother is caucasian and is of German, English and Dutch roots. Her family resided across the street from the 20th Century Fox lot when she was growing up and she was a lover of movies from her early childhood. Her mom was a school teacher and her father was an attorney. Paula claims she was able to get away from her mother by pretending to be someone else when she was when she was a kid. It's not surprising that she took part in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School's plays for high school students. Her favorite character was that of "Abigail" in "The Crucible". She completed her studies at the University of Southern California, where she completed a summer course in film. It was during this time that she was given a three-month task to create documentaries on PBS. The result was that she was able to work as a production assistant in television documentaries as well as on Howie Mandel’s talk show. In the following time, she was able to produce documentary segments on Medical Diaries 2000 on Discovery Health Channel. Paula says she is passionate about her work but her goals were the same. She studied acting before deciding to switch gears and become an actor. She became a star almost immediately and was featured in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006) Idlewild (2006), and Deja Vu (2006) as the female character.
